What an exciting start to the year — and exciting news for this very first blog post: one of my surface pattern designs has been featured in Cat Coquillette’s 2026 Trend Report, under the trend category Motif-Filled Harlequin Patterns.
This trend takes the classic argyle or harlequin grid and fills each diamond with small illustrated motifs. The result is a beautiful contrast between structured geometry and softer, more organic details—bringing together order and personality in a way that feels both timeless and fresh.
